The Atiwa East District Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive, Ernest Owusu Ntim, together with the District Coordinating Director, Paul Acquah, held a strategic meeting with hotel owners and operators of related hospitality facilities on Thursday, 7th May 2026, at the District Assembly Hall to address the growing concern of prostitution within the district.
The meeting, described as the first of its kind in the history of the district, focused on the increasing use of some hospitality facilities as centers for prostitution, a concern highlighted in several Assembly reports including PRCC, EXECO, and sub-committee reports. The DCE warned operators against activities that endanger the youth and damage the image of the district, stressing that the Assembly would adopt stricter enforcement measures if persuasion fails.

Other issues discussed included persistent power fluctuations in some communities and network connectivity challenges. The DCE assured participants that the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) had already conducted assessments and was working toward resolving the electrical challenges.
The Information Services Department, which witnessed the engagement, reaffirmed its role as the “eyes and ears” of government at the grassroots by continuing to inform and educate the public on key government activities, policies, and developmental issues within the district.
