The Atiwa East District Assembly has established a dedicated Task Force on Environment, Mining, and Development Control as part of efforts to strengthen environmental protection, enforce development regulations, and improve revenue mobilization within the district.
The initiative, championed by the District Chief Executive, Ernest Owusu Ntim, forms part of the Assembly’s broader vision to promote orderly development, to boost revenue, and position Atiwa East among the leading districts in the Eastern Region. A strategic meeting held on Wednesday, 6th May 2025, at the District Assembly Hall brought together members of the task force, local authorities, and key stakeholders to discuss measures aimed at curbing unauthorized structures, environmental degradation, and unlawful developmental activities.
The District Coordinating Director, Paul Acquah, reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to achieving government targets for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs), stressing the importance of stakeholder collaboration and strict enforcement.

The task force includes representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and the Ghana Blue Water Guards, staff of the assembly, and some selected residence of the district, to ensure effective coordination and enforcement.
The Information Services Department, which witnessed the engagement, reaffirmed its role as the “eyes and ears” of government at the grassroots by documenting the proceedings and continuing to keep the public informed on government policies, developmental activities, and key initiatives within the district.
