The Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) in the Atiwa East District has uncovered troubling cases of children engaged in hazardous mining activities, commonly known as galamsey, as part of ongoing efforts to combat child labour in the area. Among those identified were **Emmanuel Nyantekyi, 15, and Stephen Ashiagbor, 17**, who, along with other children, have been involved in risky mining work to provide for themselves and support their siblings.

According to CHRAJ, the situation highlights the harsh realities faced by vulnerable children in mining communities, where economic hardship often forces minors into dangerous environments, exposing them to serious health and safety risks while depriving them of their education and childhood.

In response, CHRAJ is making a strong appeal to **philanthropists, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and well-meaning individuals** to support efforts to rescue and rehabilitate these children. The Commission stressed the urgent need for interventions that will help remove them from galamsey activities and provide access to education, protection, and better livelihood opportunities.

CHRAJ reaffirmed its commitment to working with local authorities and partners to ensure that children like Emmanuel and Stephen are given a chance to build safer and more promising futures, free from exploitation.
