Following his engagement with the Chief, elders, and residents of Adasawase, the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim, proceeded to inspect one of the major concerns raised by the community—the abandoned Methodist Primary School project, which has remained incomplete for several years after work stalled under the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund).

The inspection formed part of the DCE’s commitment to responding promptly to issues identified during the community engagement exercise. Accompanied by officials of the District Assembly and officers from the Information Services Department, Hon. Owusu Ntim toured the abandoned classroom block to assess its current condition and received a briefing on the challenges surrounding the project.

The DCE also visited the existing school building currently occupied by pupils and teachers. During the visit, he engaged with the Head Teacher, teaching staff, and learners to gain first-hand information on the impact of the abandoned project and the deteriorating state of the current school infrastructure. The Head Teacher highlighted the numerous challenges confronting the school, including inadequate classroom space and the unsafe condition of parts of the existing building, while learners also had the opportunity to interact with the DCE.

Officers from the Information Services Department, heads of departments and others witnessed the inspection and documented the engagement as part of their mandate to disseminate government information and promote public awareness of development initiatives within the district.

Responding to the concerns raised, Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim assured the school authorities and the community that the Assembly would engage the relevant authorities, particularly GETFund and other stakeholders, to explore practical measures for completing the abandoned classroom project and addressing the deteriorating condition of the existing school facilities. He reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to ensuring that every child has access to a safe, secure, and conducive learning environment.
