The Ghana Education Service (GES) in the Atiwa East District has officially ushered in the 2026 academic year with a strategic stakeholders’ meeting aimed at strengthening teacher–learner relations, improving service delivery, and surpassing the district’s performance recorded in the previous year.

The meeting brought together education officials and head-teachers across the district to deliberate on key issues affecting teaching and learning, while setting a renewed tone for the second term and the year ahead.

The session was honoured by a courtesy visit from the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim, who officially engaged participants and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to education as a cornerstone of sustainable development in the district.

In his address, Hon. Owusu Ntim disclosed that several priority education projects have been reviewed and aligned with the district’s broader development agenda. He emphasized that these initiatives are designed to deliver lasting impact through improved infrastructure and strategic investment in human capital.

A major highlight of his address was the ongoing construction of three standardized, modern kindergarten classroom blocks across the district. These facilities, scheduled for commissioning in the first quarter of the year, are expected to significantly enhance early childhood learning and provide a strong foundation for pupils at the basic level.

The DCE also announced plans for the rehabilitation and renovation of teachers’ bungalows in selected communities. This intervention is intended to improve teachers’ living conditions, boost morale, and enhance productivity and retention within the district.

Additionally, discussions touched on a proposed Sports Academy School to be established at Anyinam. The initiative seeks to integrate academic instruction with structured sports development, creating a platform for young talents to excel both academically and athletically.

Hon. Owusu Ntim further noted that several schools in dire need of renovation have been identified, with concrete measures already underway to address these infrastructural challenges and ensure safe, conducive learning environments for both teachers and learners.

To support participation in the meeting, an amount of GHS 10,000 was donated to cater for transportation for teachers who attended the session.

The District Director of Education, Miss Pearl Lionel Acquah, together with her management team, expressed profound appreciation to the DCE for his continuous support and unwavering commitment to the development of education in the Atiwa East District.

Stakeholders reaffirm their collective resolve to work collaboratively to deliver quality education and achieve improved outcomes in 2026 and beyond.
