The Atiwa East District Assembly received a monitoring and assessment team from the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council (ERCC) today, as part of a broader exercise to evaluate project implementation and administrative performance across districts in the region.
The visiting team comprised Mr. Nisah, Madam Owusu, and Angelina, all officials of the Eastern Regional Coordinating Council, who engaged with assembly officials and inspected a number of ongoing and completed projects within the district.
Borehole Projects Assessed
Among the key projects assessed during the visit were borehole projects at Nanapa, Asamang Tamfoe, and Anyinam Islamic, all of which form part of the assembly’s drive to improve access to clean and safe drinking water for communities across the district. The ERCC team inspected the status of works at each site and expressed satisfaction with the level of progress recorded so far.
Other Infrastructure Projects Inspected
Beyond the borehole projects, the team also inspected a CHPS Compound at Nanapa and an Islamic Kindergarten at Anyinam. These projects, which are aimed at improving healthcare delivery and early childhood education respectively, were noted to be progressing in a satisfactory manner. The team commended the assembly for the visible strides made in delivering these critical social infrastructure projects.
Financial Performance Reviewed
Matters of financial release and expenditure were also discussed during the engagement. The team reviewed the assembly’s financial performance, examining how released funds had been managed and deployed across the various projects.
Commendation for Sanitation; Procurement Process Flagged
The ERCC team noted with satisfaction the assembly’s commendable performance in the area of sanitation, acknowledging the efforts made to improve environmental hygiene across the district. However, the team observed that the assembly needs to strengthen its procurement processes and urged management to ensure strict compliance with procurement regulations in the implementation of future projects.
The District Assembly has assured that the observations and recommendations made by the ERCC team will be taken seriously and acted upon accordingly, as the assembly remains committed to transparent, accountable, and efficient service delivery for the people of Atiwa East.
