On the month of January 25th, 2023, Atiwa East District Assembly led by the DCE, Honorable Kwabena Panin Nkansah engages traders at Enyiresi and its environs. The purpose of the engagement was to bring out all issues relating to the market from the traders, deliberate and to bring out the best possible solutions to these issues and other relational matters.The DCE, in his presentation gave thanks to the traders for receiving the district and giving them the very intention, they need for the event. He spelled out clearly to the traders the needs and the reasons why issues relating to the market center should be brought forth to them in other to deliberate on the bases of the underlying law governing the entire district and bring out the solutions to them. The DCE stated that, traders should come forth freely and encouraged them to speak boldly. He supported this statement with the reason being that, the district is here for them and as a district we are mandated by the law to seek the welfare of the people in the district at all cost, the district in it great distress, it is the duty of the district assembly to attend to those distress call and find possible ways to address them. Some other relational matter the DCE highlighted is the increment of market toll.
The traders at the market center were giving the opportunity to bring forth their issues during the event which are highlighted below:
- Public toilet situated at the market center not in good shape for usage anymore due to lack of cleanliness.
- Market toll increased from GHc 1 to Ghc 2.
- Lack of electricity in some designated areas in the market center.
- Lack of designated security officers and hence resulting in theft of item at the market.
- Market premises now avenue for sex making.
Solutions allocated to these issues stated above from the event are as follows:
- Market toll shall be increase to GHc 2.
- Security officers have been designed to the market center to secure the market premises and are always at their duty post performing as expected by the district assembly.
- Places without electricity will be noticed and designate engineers from the district to estimate the cost and fixed them to the traders and the district expectation satisfactory.
