
The PERD programme is a decentralized National Tree Crop Programme to promote rural economic growth and improve households’ incomes of rural farmers through the provision of certified improved seedlings, support services and regulatory mechanism.
Atiwa East district selected Oil palm and Coconut for her PERD programme since the vegetation, soil and weather conditions of the district favour the cultivation of the crop.
District Seedlings Distributed Under the PERD Program
In the first quarter of 2022, the Department received from the Mineral Commission, 19,140 oil palm seedling and distributed them to 130 beneficiaries from 7 communities. During the third quarter of 2022, the Department received from the Mineral Commission/Atiwa East Assembly, 4,000 coconut seedlings and distributed them to 61 beneficiaries in 12 communities.
