
As part of the directives issued from the Head Office of Ghana Education Service to MMDA’s to mark ‘My first day at school’ for every academy year with the purpose of welcoming newly kindergarten children enrolled and children newly promoted to class one from kindergarten.
In compliance with the directive, the Ghana Education office in collaboration with the District Assembly of Atiwa East on Wednesday October 4th, 2023 visited and had the event in Kedewaso Electoral Area precisely Tiawiah-subriso and Tiawiah communities in Subriso D/A and Tiawiah D/A respectively, and New jejeti R/A located in the Sekeyere Electoral Area specifically New Jejetia community.
The event welcomed a lot of children in the kindergarten and class one, in attendance teachers, the District Coordinating Director staffs from both parties, the assembly member for Tiawiah electoral area, elders of the communities and to an extent parents aiding to make sure the event sees success.

Donation from the District Education Director and the District Chief Executive in the persons of Ms. Perl Leonel Acquah and Honourable Kwabena Panin Nkansah respectively was made to the children. Such donations made are excises books, pencils, biscuits with soft drinks.
In addition to the donation, both the Education Director and the DCE engaged the children with conversation and encouraged them to come to school always, not to come alone but to come with their friends as well.
The event also paved away for both directors to engage the stakeholders of the school including parents and elders of the communities as well. In the cause of the meeting the Education Director pinpoint the reason for her visit with the DCE and the assembly and put forth a question to the head teacher saying “ what is the strategy(ies) put in place for effective enrollment of children? ” In responds to the question was moving from houses to house to engage parent of the children to convince them to enroll their children in the school said by the head teacher.
The DED made suggestions to the school authorities to use sports or, fan games, classroom décor, and other physical engagements as a medium of causing traffic to the school. She added and edged the teachers to have a very good caudal relationship with the children and extend it to the parent of the children.
The DCE also addressed the stakeholders and made emphasis on the use of the information centers to communicate to parent on the enrollment of their children in addition to what Education director said in her address. Again, he made referenced to his past years when he had the opportunity to teach one of his junior colleagues during his staying in law school and never saw him again after school. A court case carried him to Boko in the Upper West Region and behold, the judge handling the case was his junior colleague he taught in law school and because of what conspire in the past years, the case went in the favor of him and he won the case.
The DCE leveraged on his past life to encourage the teachers with a saying “ no matter how the current situation, always do your part as a professional teachers and edge you to do it with your very best because no one knows tomorrow ”.
The District Coordinating Director in the person of Mr. Shakil Mahamood Kpedau in his address to the teachers as an addition to what is said by the DCE edged them to find more ways of making teaching livelier and more attractive to the children aside following the play book provided by the GES. Emphasis on finding more ways he said was decorating classroom with teaching materials which serves a strong communication to the kids since children at this tender age likes beautiful and attractive things and always eager to make contact with them and many more. His last words in his address were encouraging themselves first with inspiring things due to nature of the community environment before moving to the classroom to teach. if they do not do that, they will always find it difficult to make good communication with the kids effectively. In addition, generally congratulated them for a well job done.
