On the month Of May, 14th, 2024, Atiwa East District Assembly led by the DCE, Honourable Kwabena Panin Nkansah engages the people of Ehiawoanwu located within Kwedewaso area council. The event was moderated by the director for NCCE in the person of Mr. Saviour Ametepe, and Mr. Prince Obeng Donkor the assistant information officer.The engagement witnesses the presence of Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah district chief executive, Mr. Shakil Kpedau Mahamood the district coordinating director, Mr. William Aseidu-Akrofi the district director for Agric, Miss. Effual Afful the district director for health, the district director for planning, the district director for environmental and sanitation, officer from the social welfare and community development, the right to information officer, the district director for NCCE, the chief and queen mother, the elders and other community stakeholders.The NIA district director in the person of Mr. Jacob Oti Amankwah also made a presentation and said that pall pending cards have been resolved, and also distributed to the various communities and did acknowledge the assembly for their assistant towards the distribution exercise.There have been some changes when it comes to bearing a national or ecowas ID card he said, which is, the change of price of the premium package from 110 Ghana cedis to 310 Ghana cedis for new applicant at the regional level, but at zero cost at the district level. On both levels, applicants must be at the age from 15 onwards. In addition, the event witnessed the NIA officer announcing to the stakeholders of the government bringing an initiative onboard to register all children within the ages of 6 to 14 years on the NIA system.When it comes to replacement of NIA cards, the officer made it point blank to the stakeholders of the price been elevated to 150 Ghana cedis at the district level, and that of the premium package at the regional level is price at 400 Ghana cedis. Reason to the elevation of prices is the cost of the cards used in the NIA process procured from the Management Identity System (MIS). In addition, for update of records on the NIA system which is not meant to be captured on the card at the district level is cost free, and for information needed to the captured on the card subsequently requires a fee of 60 Ghana cedis, but for regional level is 355 Ghana cedis.The event again witnesses the presentation from the immigration officer in the person of Mr. Osei. He said, the Ghana immigration service is responsible for all foreigners wellbeing within the country including their arrival and exist. Foreigners from the ecowars’ region in Ghana have a maximum duration of 90 days according to the law, after the stipulated timeframe the law treats that individual as illegal. For a foreigner to work within of the confines of Ghana must have a certification work permit for three (3) months, and must be renewed after the stipulated time. Ghana resident permit is issued to the foreigner if and only if he is not a treat to the state and to the residence. In substance, the immigration officers were found at only the borders of Ghana but now found within the country. Reason to this he said, is to arrest all illegal foreigners who does not have necessary legal documents, and did pass the unapproved route into the country to foster the security strength in the country.The event also witnessed the presentation from the district director for the education directorate in the person of Miss Pearl Leonel Acquah. She made mention of children with a mental construct of saying to his or her parent as to when the child wants to do something at his or her own accord to start school immediately. She edged the parent to make provision of the child school accessories such as the books, pencils, and many more and stop waiting on the government to do that for them. The director stressed on some of the reasons why most of the children don’t take their education serious because of teenage peer pressure, negative influence from the social media, the misuse of mobile phones and other relative electronic gadget. The director edged the parent to see to it that time spent on electrical gadgets is of minimal. Government putting temporary on hold to teachers deployed to their workstations across the country due to financial constraint was also stressed on by the district director at the event. She went on to say that, the government is now on financial loan from the IMF to support the country financial crises. As a result, deprived community schools are lacking teachers, and notwithstanding, teachers posted at those deprived communities are not motivated to stay and to carry out their duties. Those teachers, the director said, seek for transfer to other places where it is more convenient and suitable for teaching. In speaking was the officer for the Community development and social welfare in the person of Mr. Emmanuel Boateng, highlighting on the core function of the department which is enhancement of wealth and protection of every child in the country. He said, the department is under a journey of creating awareness of child abuse, child labor, teenage pregnancy which is significantly increasing, gender based violent, drug abuse and many more. He added, what is seen and reported to the department from communities is child labor. The director expatiated, children under the age of 18 years in accordance to the law and are exposed in hard labor by parent or anyone of that sort, having negative impart to the child health, education, anything of that sort, hindering the development of the child is called child labor. Activities parent subject children to must be educational wise since children normally learn effectively in physical activities. The department also focuses on people with disabilities (pwd’s). For such people the director said, are assisted with financial aid and any other from the assembly’s finance common funds but such people must be first registered. LEAP is also one of government initiatives to assist vulnerable needly elderly people from the ages of 65 and above, orphan children, and person with severely disabled. In speaking again was the DCE, Hon Kwabena Panin Nkansah making a quick reminder of the Bizbox project currently ongoing across Ghana in every district prefinanced by mastercard foundation in collaboration with Ghana Enterprise Agency with the aim to serve people with the age range between 18 to 35 years as regards to agriculture businesses. USTAT was also highlighted by the DCE. He said, USTAT is similar to bizbox project but this time focusing on people in microbusinesses of any sort with the aim to reduce employment rate in the Ghana and of the world. An initiative has been implemented by the government in regards to the planting for food and job initiative said by the DCE during his presentation. He said, the core function of the aggregator is to supplying all what farmers will be needed to start farming at the cost of the government without anything being payable from the side of the farmer, but only deduct what is been spent on during the farming process at the time of harvest.In speaking was the DCE, Hon Kwabena Panin Nkansah making a quick reminder of the hardship occurred since the year 2021 as regards to the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, disrupting global food supplying chain across in the world market, significant decrease in world GDP and the world economy for which Ghana is not excluded. With regards to this, the DCE made a stand point and said that the world is facing crises now and that we should not always put blame on the government. The DCE made highlighted on the Bizbox project currently ongoing across Ghana in every district prefinanced by mastercard foundation in collaboration with Ghana Enterprise Agency with the aim to serve people with the age range between 18 to 35 years as regards to agriculture businesses. USTAT was also highlighted by the DCE. He said, USTAT is similar to bizbox project but this time focusing on people in microbusinesses of any sort with the aim to reduce employment rate in the Ghana and of the world. The assembly is ever ready to give out scholarship to students in-need for assistance to further their education only when the conditions for qualification is met aside assisting the education directorate in so many ways. The event finally heard the announcement from the DCE about the TVET being operational purposely serving mostly ethe youth who want to advance in their skills.OPEN FORUMBelow are some of the issues that arose during the event• A contractor constructed to construct a six-unit classroom financed by the IGF using inferior zinc roofing sheet?• Extension of telecommunication lines to the community. • An applicant not knowing his or her date of birth not even his age, how can such person register for NIA card since is a requirement.• Who is responsible for supervision of government projects within the district. • Fixing of damaged roads leading to the community.Below are some responds addressing the arose issues• According to the DCD, announcing to the stakeholder of the contract being terminated base on the evidences presented to the board for approval from the assembly.• Communication will be done with the MP for the extension of the telecommunication lines to the community.• Such applicant must come to the district assembly for it to be resolved.• It is both the responsibility of the assembly to supervise, but the for the reporting, much depends on the residence.• The assembly will assess it and know how best that issue will be resolved
