The Atiwa East District Assembly held a brief ceremony on 4th February, 2020 at the premises of the District Assembly to officially handover the Ambulance procured by government to the Ambulance Service.

The ceremony was attended by officials from the Ambulance Service, District Health Directorate, Security Services, Assembly Members, Party functionaries, key stakeholders in the District and Staff of the Assembly.

During the brief ceremony, participants were taken through the various components and items contained in the ambulance.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Health Director Dr. Bekui underscored the essence of the Ambulance in enhancing health care delivery in the district and commended government for their effort in providing such state of the art Ambulance. He urged the Ambulance Service to be committed to their work and support emergency health care delivery in the district. He finally advised the Ambulance Service to properly maintain the vehicle.

The District Police Commander, C/Spt. Ahiatafu in his remarks made mention of the challenges they went through in handling accident cases during the absence of the Ambulance and commended government for the timely intervention. He called for multi-sectoral collaboration in handling emergency cases in the district.

The Atiwa East DCE, Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah in addressing the gathering, indicated that the Ambulance was funded through the $1million per Constituency promised by the government. He alluded to the need to ensure the Ambulances procured by government through the Ministry of Special Initiatives were fitted with the requisite equipment and officials of the Ambulance Service properly trained to manage the Ambulance as the main reasons for the delay in releasing the Ambulances to the various constituencies. He advised the public to desist from prank calls to the Ambulance Service. He also urged the Ambulance Service to properly maintain the vehicle and professed the Assembly’s support to ensure their effective functioning. He finally called on the public to support government to deliver on its mandate.
