The Atiwa East District Assembly on 19th June, 2020 donated a number of Veronica buckets and sanitary items to the Local Council of churches for distribution to its members to support the fight against COVID-19.
This kind gesture forms part of the Assembly’s effort to support the churches within the District with the requisite items for the reopening of churches following the President’s directives for the resumption of religious activities in the country.
Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah, the District Chief Executive at a brief ceremony to present the items to the Executives of the Local Council of Churches, urged them to adhere to the safety protocols and measures instituted by government to contain the virus. He informed them that a taskforce has been deployed to monitor activities of the churches to ensure they observe the needed safety measures and protocols guiding the reopening of churches. He further admonished them to educate their congregants on the virus and safety protocols to support the fight against COVID-19.
- The chairman of the Local Council of Churches in his remarks expressed his gratitude to the DCE and the Assembly for the kind gesture and wished them Godspeed in all their endeavors.
