
The ATIWA EAST DISTRICT marked the launch of the green Ghana initiative with a brief ceremony at the Assemblies PREMISES on Friday 11th June 2021.The ceremony was attended by all heads of departments and agencies in the District which commenced at exactly 10:00am with a short prayer and was followed by a brief but intelligent address by Hon Kwabena Panin Nkansah the DCE, speaking at the event he stressed the need for everyone to get involve in the tree planting exercise in other to once again green our vegetation to replace the lost forest. He further educated the gathering on the negative impact of deforestation and why the need to replace tree when cut down. Hon Kwabena Panin expressed his commitment to making sure 5 million trees are planted within the District to help reclaim the land that has been lost due to mining activities.

Miners in the District joined the campaign to plant more trees and assured the Assembly that they will do their best to reclaim the lands they mine on.The DISTRICT Police commander DSP Wiafe also pleaded with all present that the act of planting trees should not be abandoned after the ceremony but should be seen as something that we are all going to make part of our daily activity and to find time and water it till it is strong enough to standThe ceremony ended with a Christian prayer
