On the 25th of May, 2023, Atiwa East District Assembly visited the people of Vanderpuye. The purpose of the visitation was to witness the renaming of the village from Vanderpuye to Darkokrom. The event started with a prayer at time 10 am.
On behave of the DCE, Honourable Kwabena Panin Nkansah, Mr Simon Asare, the District Coordinating Director, in his presentation made emphasis on the reasons of naming ceremony. One of reasons stated by him, was the physical and to an extent spiritual implications of naming someone or something after someone or something as strongly believed by our ancestors, our mothers and fathers down to this very current generation throughout the entire country of Ghana. In addition to this statement stated that, the implication to naming can be either negative or positive depending on the kind of life that individual lived whiles on earth. His last words to the people of vanderpuye in his presentation was giving thanks to the chief and his elders, and every stakeholders for trusting the DCE, DCD and the staff of the assembly during the crises and hope for the better future.

The chief of Vanderpuye in his presentation made it clear to the people and all dignities gathered the reason of the gathering. Reason to that was to remind the people of how the past chief of the village released a land to the family of vanderpuye for farming purposes. After so many years, the successor of vanderpoye family claimed to own the land to an extent of hindering the development of the village in education, health, utilities and others by means of not seeking permission from the family of vanderpuye first before anything is done within the village. The chief of the vanderpoye village stated that, if the land has been reclaimed from the family of vanderpuye, then is a necessity to rename the village in customary way, not just renaming sake but as a proof of the village gaining independence from the family of vanderpuye and a first step to the village development.

The District Police Commander in his presentation stated that, what matters is peace and security to reign within the district and will continue to adheres to that at all cost and will support the village in that manner.

The Chief of the village and other queen mothers of neighboring communities together poured libation to rename the village from vanderpuye to Darkokrom in a customary way and as a proof of it, a signboard was brought to the event with the new name of the village Darkokorm captured on it. A vote of thanks was made by the electoral assembly member of Anyinam. A group picture was taken afterwards. 3 chiefs and 8 queen mothers, 6 assembly staffs, more than 15 police officers with the District Police Commander were in attendance.
