Ghana Investment Found for Electronic Communication (GIFEC) under the Ministry of Communication under its Capacity Building and Skills Development Program is to train citizens in the basic skills in ICT and provide needed equipment to aid in learning of ICT. A program to that was held at Koforidua for 7 selected basic Junior High Schools in Eastern Region to compete with each other in basic knowledge of coding and other related ICT topics.

Out of the 7 selected schools, 3 was selected of which Anyinam Model Girls School in Atiwa East District was inclusive, and was awarded with several laptops, and a setting up of ultra-modern ICT lab in their various schools.

The Anyinam Model Girls Schools was prefinanced by the Ministry of Communication in collaboration with Atiwa East District Assembly, and GES being the facilitator.

The Honourable DCE Kwabena Panin Nkansah, the DCD Mr. Shakil Mahamood Kpedau, together with the District Director for Education Directorate Ms. Perl Leonel Acquah welcomed the students together with the teachers and congratulated them for a job well done and lifting up the name of Atiwa East District on high.

The DCE, in his presentation to the teachers and the students made emphasis on the use of the laptop with internet nowadays in learning and teaching, business marketing and others. In addition to this, edge the teachers to help the students on how to use these gadgets when it comes to gathering of correct and accurate information from social media, website, and others since the internet has now become one of the most advance tools when it comes to information and shaping the life of an individual and the face of every country. He advised the teachers to create awareness on cyber security since the internet has now become a platform for fraudsters to explicit money.

In addition to DCE’s presentation, the Education Director edged the students to take good care of these gadgets and to refrain from naked pictures and video on the internet if they want a better future, and always stick to their books.
