On 17th November 2023, the District Health Committee held its third meeting for the year at the District Assembly Conference Hall in ANYINAM. The committee which is the highest decision making body on health which is mandated to oversee all issues regarding health within the district held the meeting to discuss issues that had been raised in the previous meetings and more importantly, pay a working visit to Enyresi Government hospital in Akyem Enyresi to meet their management and ascertain their challenges.

The chairman for the committee; Madam Afua Aful welcomed all members to the meeting and expressed his utmost gratitude to all members for attending the meeting on such a short notice. He then took the house through the previous minutes after which there were further discussions, deliberations, corrections and adoption of the previous minutes as a working documents for the committee.

The team then visited the Enyresi hospital where they met the management of the hospital. The director of the hospital welcomed members of the District Health Committee and appreciated their visit to the hospital. He went on to mention some major improvements that has occurred in the hospital and also laid out some problems that they are still facing at the hospital.

The head of Human Resources for the facility raised concerns about lack of workers in the hospital.

Also, the director complained about insufficient equipment at the lab and other departments at the hospital. He mentioned that some equipment needed at the theatre, lab and other facilities were not available and enough and due to that, the staff were unable to perform their duties equally.

The District Health Committee expressed their gratitude to management of the hospital for the warm reception and mentioned that all recommendations and concerns from the facility would be taken to management of the district assembly to be looked at. Management of the hospital was also encouraged to put in their best in order to catch up to the standard of other health facilities within the district.
