As part of the main objectives of Atiwa East District Assembly towards the contribution to the development of the district, and impartation of lives especially the needy one since the establishment of the assembly at the year 2017, people with disability once again gathered at the assembly hall within the premises of the assembly on February 21st, 2024 at 10am planned and organized by the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare. Purpose of the event was to engaged people with disability in other to find out how their lives have been imparted by the assembly, and to make donations to them said by Madam Cynthia Klu The event was graced by the presence of the District Chief Executive in the person of Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah, the District Coordinating Director in the person of Shakil Kpedau Mahamood, the district director for National Identification Agency in the person of Jacob Oti Amankwah, the Information officers, Mr. Fredereck Kofi Agyei and Mr. Prince Obeng Donkor, the district director for CHRAJ, Mr. Joseph Agbeko Yadoglah, and officers from Department of Community Development and Social Welfare in person of Mr. Emmanuel Owusu and Rose Anto. She went ahead to say that, the assembly will continue to support people with disability in any way they can in other to reduce or to an extent eradicate stigmatism and to be accepted by the society. The DCE, Hon. Kwabena Panin Nkansah, clearly spelt out his overwhelming gratitude to the people with disability for adhering to the call and making a point to come on time. He said a part of the heart of the government under the administration of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo, the district assembly to reduce stigmatism or to an extent, eradicate it by supporting people in-needy especially people with disability in any way they can of which few are donation of money, donation of items in support to of businesses such as refrigerators, industrial sowing machines, laptops and others, paying of school fees and medical bills, and others. He clearly spelled out with joy that since the establishment of the assembly i⁷n the year 2017, in his administration with the help of the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare, 497 out of 824 people with disabilities registered have been supported by the assembly under the current government and still counting. The DCE again said that, for 960 million Ghana cedis have been donated to people with disabilities since March 2017, and for this edition, 2,000 Ghana cedis was donated to some selected people with disabilities registered each under the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare. Monitoring will be conducted as to the use of the money donated by the assembly in other to ensure that the donated money is utilized to the expectation of the assembly and to the government at all cost. The event paved a way for few members of people with disability to give out their testimonies on how the donations from the assembly on behave of the government have imparted their lives. For Mr. Opare from osoase-krobom at Kwedewaso area council, in his side of the story said that, he had an opportunity to be given an amount of money from the assembly and based on the advices given to him by the Department of Community Development and Social Welfare, he was able to open an information center at osoase-krobom, and out of that he is on the path of engaging himself in rearing of snails and other livestock under intensive training. Again, Madam Mavis, from Anyinam also said through the assembly donation, she had a deep refrigerator and for the past 4 years, she has able to support her child in schooling. Lastly, Ms. Magret came out to testify that, in the year 2017 she had the opportunity to have an industrial sowing machine, and out of that she was able to get an additional sowing machine, and currently she has able to put up a 3-room apartment and on top of it still supporting her child in school. Presentation of Donation of an amount of 2,000 Ghana cedis was giving to each and everyone gathered.
