
In a heartwarming show of commitment to early childhood education, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atiwa East, Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim, and the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Shakil Mahamood Kpedau, together with a team from the District Assembly and the Information Services Department, joined the District Director of Education, Miss Perl Leonel Acquah, and her team to commemorate “My First Day at School” with pupils across the District.
The event, held around midday, saw a convoy of officials visiting some selected schools in the District: Accra Village D/A Primary School, Enyiresi Islamic Primary School, St. Peter’s Catholic Primary School in Sekyere, Ahankrasu DA primary school, Abekoase Subrisu DA primary school, Methodist primary school at Abekoase, and Subriso No1 primary school.
The initiative is part of a nationwide tradition aimed at welcoming young learners as they begin their formal education journey.

Learners who were newly enrolled were warmly received and presented with various items including books, pencils, soft drinks, and biscuits as tokens to encourage them and make their first school day a memorable one.
Speaking at each of the schools, Hon. Ernest Owusu Ntim emphasized the Assembly’s unwavering commitment to education, citing it as a cornerstone of the Dlistrict’s development agenda. He revealed that a dedicated fund has been established by the Assembly to support both Educational and Health needs ranging from infrastructure and logistics to improve academic performance.
Miss Perl Leonel Acquah, the District Director of Education, echoed the DCE’s sentiments, expressing her appreciation for the strong collaboration between the Assembly and the Education Directorate. She highlighted the importance of nurturing young minds from day one and assured teachers and parents of continuous support.
In every school visited, the team engaged with headteachers and staff to discussing both opportunities and challenges within their respective schools. Issues relating to inadequate infrastructure, poor road network, and inadequate teaching resources were brought up and the Hon DCE assured them of the Assembly’s plans to address all their concerns.
The event ended on a high note, with smiles on the faces of learners, teachers, and parents alike, as the District leadership reaffirmed its dedication to building a brighter future through Education.
