
As observed every year 2023 green Ghana day was observed in the Atiwa East district.Green Ghana is an initiative by the Government of Ghana under the supervision of the Ministry of Land and Natural resources. The initiative aims at encouraging the planting of trees by citizens to help revive our lost forest. The ceremony started at exactly 10:30 am with a short prayer.
During the address made by Hon DCE, Kwabena Panin Nkansah, stressed the urgent need for us to start replacing our lost forest in other for us to be able to deal with the threat of global warming which is already causing serious problems such as famine, flood and unpredictable weather condition. He further advice all the stake holders present to be ambassadors of the program since they have a lot of influence in the various places and to do their possible best to help save the environment from unforeseen situations of global warming and flash floods. One of the core reasons of planting of trees said by DCE was the reduction of CO2 emission and increase in oxygen content in the atmosphere, the beautification of environment, and to reduce erosion. Under the initiative, he said, the tree seedlings will be given free of charge to individuals who want to plant them.

The occasion was attended by all departments and agencies within the district as well as all the various trade and business organization in the district. The event ended with pictures of staff planting trees
